After months of speculation following James Toney making his intentions to fight in the Ultimate Fighting Championship public, one of the greatest boxers of our time is now set to embark on his career in mixed martial arts.

FiveOuncesofPain.com has been informed through sources close to the situation that James Toney has recently been signed to a multi-fight contract with the UFC.

Toney was seen during UFC 108 while attempting to track down UFC President Dana White in hopes of negotiating terms for the boxer to enter the UFC, although more recent comments from Toney made it appear as though the deal, if any, was dead in the water before today.

“Lights Out” is a former professional middleweight, super-middleweight, and cruiserweight boxing champion, while currently being listed as the active NABO and IBA heavyweight title holder.

There is no news currently available as to when Toney will be making his debut for the promotion. Stay tuned to 5 Oz. as we keep you up to date on this developing story.

Filming of The Ultimate Fighter season 11 has only just finished and rival coaches Chuck Liddell and Tito Ortiz are not due to fight until UFC 114, but the two are already getting into it via their Twitte accounts.

UFC president Dana White posted a message castigating certain MMA sites for claiming that Liddell had “his belly back” and was looking out of shape. He posted a picture alongside the tweet showing Liddell in good shape.

Shortly afterwards, Ortiz’s partner Jenna Jameson posted a message saying “I think its funny that defends Chuck Liddell like he's his boyfriend... It's kinda embarrassing.”

The tweet was duly forwarded to Liddell by a fan and the former light-heavyweight champion responded by saying that Jameson “can talk all the shit she wants, Tito is still a pussy and I ko'd him twice”.

Jameson’s response was to claim she had “never seen Tito Ortiz get knock the fuck out... Chuck has twice in the past year” while she also directly messaged Liddell and said he “never knocked Tito out! He kept coming.”

Liddell duly clarified and said that actually it was a TKO the second time he beat him (the first was a KO). Jameson’s final rejoinder was to observe that “Dana favors Chuck, always has... maybe he has a weiner to match his belly, and Dana may like it. Hehehe.”

Ortiz himself had not weighed in at time of writing but has been leaving odd Twitter messages over the last few days. The messages are of a somewhat cryptic nature, one observing that “business is business” and another mentioning “challenges” being placed in his path by “God”.

Speculation has been rife about the meaning of the messages and there are strong rumours of a backstage bust-up between Ortiz and the UFC, specifically company president Dana White. One version of the rumour has it that the bust-up was sparked by Ortiz ‘going off’ on someone, forcing White to intervene.

But there has been no official comment from any quarter and as yet rumours are just that. TUF 11 begins airing on March 31st and if the source of Ortiz’s cryptic messages has not been revealed by then, it certainly will be by the time the show has finished broadcasting.

Dan Hardy Lashes Out at Critics, Fellow Fighters - Bloody Elbow

I am a big underdog against GSP and every interview, every day, in emails from fans, I'm getting asked: 'How do you expect to beat GSP?' and 'Do you think you deserve a title shot?'

I am getting those questions all the time, like GSP is some kind of god and shouldn't even have to defend his title.

GSP has already beaten most of the top contenders. They've had their chance, while I haven't.

I've beaten everyone the UFC has put in front of me; I've never turned down a fight and I am not about to now.

On Swick:
I would have been happy having a couple more fights before getting my shot, but I was offered a spot as a late replacement against Mike Swick in a final eliminator in November, accepted, and beat him up.

It's funny Swick is now moaning that I didn't deserve this shot. Swick should have kept his mind off me and on his last opponent, Paulo Thiago, and maybe he wouldn't have been beaten again.

On Koscheck:
I am very amused Josh Koscheck is still bitching his lungs out that he deserves a title shot, not me.

British fans will know Koscheck as the Fraggle-haired guy who got sparked out in one round in London a year ago, only to take his loss out on an innocent chair backstage, scoring a split decision points win over the unsuspecting piece of furniture.

If you've forgotten that fight (and if you blinked, you'd have missed it) you'll see something very similar in May when Paul Daley knocks him out.

Koscheck says I have beaten nobodies but my latest win was over his supposed friend and team-mate in Swick.

How loyal. That's why Jon Fitch isn't improving, why Koscheck has so many one-sided losses on his record and why Swick will never fight for a title.

They aren't really a team, they don't have each others' best interests at heart and clearly there's a lack of respect in that gym

On Marquardt:
Nate Marquardt is another guy who has been vocal that I am getting some sort of preferential treatment from the UFC.

He's a middleweight, so I can't see how this concerns him. But all I can say is if I don't curl up into a ball and get blasted in one round, I'll do better than he did in his title shot against Anderson Silva.

I've won four UFC bouts to get here, not-so-great Nate had three, none of which were against world-beaters

No one has more respect for Fedor Emelianenko than Randy Couture. For years, Couture has proclaimed Fedor the best fighter on the planet, and Couture's burning desire to test himself against Fedor was a big reason that he tried to leave the UFC in 2007.

So it's telling that Couture has now joined the growing number of people in the mixed martial arts community who are questioning what's going on with Fedor.

In an interview with MMAPrime.tv, Couture questioned why Fedor seems to be stalling in scheduling his next fight, which is supposed to come against Fabricio Werdum.

"I think at some point Fedor's going to have to step up and be willing to fight top-level guys again. I don't know what's going on with him or why he's not willing to do that, but certainly Werdum is one of those guys he's going to have to face. To be considered the top fighter, the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world, he's going to have to face tougher opponents. So hopefully we'll see that fight happen."

Fedor is unquestionably the best fighter in the history of MMA, but he's running a real risk of tarnishing his legacy because there's always so much drama surrounding the scheduling of his fights.When Couture is calling him out, you know Fedor's reputation has taken a hit.
